Dipped & Debris – NEW! NE Mpls Sandwich & Frozen Custard

MINNEAPOLIS (10/1/18) – Your next flavor obsession is here!  Dipped & Debris, now open at 2422 Central Ave NE, is serving up your favorite classic American sandwiches thoroughly researched through family road trips, visits to iconic American eateries, and a hunger for experiencing local cultures through their food.

A new concept joining long-established Sen Yai Sen Lek, Thai Rice & Noodles --located one store-front north-- Dipped & Debris will offer hot (and a few cold) sandwiches, salads and soups from various regions of the U.S., selected by Chef/Owner Joe Hatch-Surisook and Chef/GM Ian Pierce.  The name is in reference to the two sandwiches that headline the menu: Dipped is a Chicago-style Italian Beef sandwich, in which the beef and bun are dipped in gravy before serving.  Debris is a style of Louisiana Po’Boy using beef drippings and extra tender beef shavings.  

“Well…my parents forced me to open Sen Yai Sen Lek ‘cause I’m Thai, and that’s what a good Thai son is supposed to do.  But with Dipped & Debris I get to make what I like to eat,” jokes Chef Joe. “in seriousness, though, there are a variety of reasons for the new concept. One of the most important is that there aren’t many (or any…?) home-grown sandwich and frozen custard spots in Northeast.”

Joe, his wife Holly, and their long-time friend, local Chef Ian Pierce, collaborated to create a menu featuring NE Mpls variations of classic American sandwiches inspired by Joe & Holly’s family road trips.  In addition to the headliners, the menu includes fried catfish and fried chicken Po’boys, a straightforward double cheeseburger, fried bologna from Red Table Meats with raw onion and B&B pickles, and a Sen Yai Sen Lek-inspired chicken satay sandwich.  Vegetarian/vegan options include a mock duck Po’Boy and a tofu version of the satay sandwich.

For dessert, don’t miss the house-made frozen custard, which you can dress up in a Sweet Debris Jumble of toppings made to order.  The custard menu features custom creations like the Kokomo Joe (pineapple, coconut, banana, macadamia nuts) or Bocce Baller (pistachio, candied cherries, cinnamon chocolate sauce), among many others. Or choose your own favorite toppings from 30-odd sweets ranging from fresh strawberries to sprinkles, hot fudge and whipped cream.

Visit between 2-5pm this Saturday, October 6th for the Grand Opening celebration: Tap beer or glass of wine on the house when you buy a sandwich, and FREE Sweet Debris custard samples. YUM!
