Kraus-Anderson promotes Brian Hook to director of field operations

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (May 2018) – Kraus-Anderson Construction has promoted industry veteran Brian Hook to director of field operations.  He previously served as senior project manager.  In his new post, Hook will oversee field activities for all KA construction projects and will manage the company’s general superintendents.  

“Brian’s strong project experience, personable leadership style, and understanding of best practices will provide important support to our vital field operations team, said Rich Jacobson, executive vice president of KA Construction.  “We look forward to his strong contributions in his new role.”

Hook, a 27-year industry veteran, began his career with KA in 1991 in the field as a laborer, moving into project management in 1996.  As project manager, Hook has extensive experience in K-12 education construction and has overseen extensive projects for numerous Minnesota school districts, including Forest Lake Schools, South Washington County, Waconia, White Bear Lake, Elk River, South St. Paul, North Branch, Orono and Minot Public Schools in North Dakota.

Hook earned his B.S. in Construction Management from North Dakota State University, Fargo.  He is a member of North Dakota State University’s Construction Industry Advisory Council.

New superintendents also hired
In addition, KA has hired Steve Sontag, Conan Young and David Brust as superintendents.  They work in the company’s Minneapolis office.Steve Sontag is a 32-year veteran in the construction industry.  Prior to joining KA, he was a superintendent for Burnsville, Minn.-based CM Construction, where he focused on K-12 education projects, including Prosperity Heights Elementary, St. Paul; Cedar Elementary, Burnsville; Burnsville High School and Maple Grove Senior High School.

Conan Young has more than 23 years of experience in the construction industry, including 16 years as a superintendent.  Most recently, Young was a superintendent for Anderson Companies in St. Louis Park, Minn.  Over his career, he has worked in numerous industry sectors including medical, commercial, housing and government.   Some of his noteworthy Minneapolis projects include the Naval Facilities Engineer Command, Medtronic, University of Minnesota Amundson Hall, Allina and numerous projects for the VA Medical Center.

David Brust comes to KA having served as a superintendent for Ebert Construction in Loretto, Minn.  Prior to that, he was a superintendent for 16 years for Flannery Construction of St. Paul and also owned David Brust Construction of East Bethel, Minn.  Brust completed construction management training with Associated General Contractors.
