Kraus-Anderson’s Al Gerhardt elected to board of distinguished construction industry roundtable

MINNEAPOLIS (May 2018) – Al Gerhardt, president and COO of Kraus-Anderson Construction Company, has been elected to the board of directors of the Construction Industry Round Table (CIRT), the distinguished national association comprised exclusively of approximately 120 chief executives from the leading design and construction companies doing business in the United States and globally.

Working to be a leading force for positive change in the industry, CIRT is the only organization that serves as the single voice representing both the design and construction community. The CEO members who make up CIRT lead companies that are responsible for over $200 billion dollars in private and public-sector design and construction work; and their companies directly employ nearly one million people across the country.

Gerhardt is a visionary force for stability and progress at Kraus-Anderson and provides overall leadership and strategic direction of the construction company. He joined KA in 1980 and rose to senior management positions.  He was named chief operating officer in 2007, as company sales reached $1 billion.  He was named president in 2017.

Gerhardt has overseen major multimillion dollar projects in numerous industry sectors. Under his leadership, the company has experienced greater than 30 percent average annual growth in sales since 2014 and is on track this year to exceed 2017 sales.  The company is 12th in the U.S. as a general contractor for healthcare facilities, according to Modern Healthcare Magazine; and is named 9th in the nation in the construction of K-12 facilities by Building Design and Construction magazine.

Gerhardt holds a B.S. in Construction Management from Minnesota State University-Mankato, and holds General Contractor licenses in Florida, Mississippi and New Mexico.  He serves on the board of AGC of America and the Twin Cities ACE Mentor Program.  Gerhardt is a member of NAIOP and has served on the State of Minnesota Building Code Advisory Board, Construction Specifications Institute, Minneapolis City of Lakes Rotary Club, and is past chair of the Minnesota State University-Mankato Construction Management Advisory Board and CornerHouse, a nonprofit child advocacy organization.
