A’s, O’s and B’s are also used to identify blood types and at times, they do go missing from hospital shelves. As part of an international movement, the American Red Cross has launched the Missing Types campaign to raise awareness of the need for blood donors to ensure lifesaving blood is available for patients.
You can help!
  1. Make an appointment to give blood or platelets by visiting RedCrossBlood.org/MissingTypes, downloading the free Blood Donor App or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
  2. Bring a friend to donate with you.
  3. Encourage your friends and family to be the #MissingType by donating blood.
  4. Follow the Red Cross on social media and share messages about Missing Types with your friends and followers.

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood yet less than 3 percent of the population donates blood. Your support can help ensure patients continue receiving the lifesaving treatments they need. Thank you for helping save lives.
