Steger holds a Bachelor of Science in geology\, Masters in education\, and Honorary Doctorates from several universities including the University of St. Thomas. His writings and photos are widely known and appreciated globally. He has authored four books: Over the Top of the World\, Crossing Antarctica\, North to the Pole\, and Saving the Earth.
