March 06, 2020
(Bloomington, MN) Artistry is excited to announce the cast of Mame, taking place in the Schneider Theater April 17 – May 10, 2020, directed by Benjamin McGovern with choreography by Joe Chvala. The show will star Sarah Jane Agnew as Mame Dennis with Angela Timberman as Vera Charles and fresh-faced 5th grader Isaiah McKnight as Patrick Dennis.

From the composer of Hello, Dolly! and La Cage aux Folles comes another musical about a larger-than-life personality with an insatiable appetite for living. Meet Mame Dennis, an eccentric Manhattanite whose fabulous, bohemian lifestyle is turned upside down when her orphaned nephew comes to live with her. Featuring a timeless score with hits like “Open a New Window” and “We Need a Little Christmas,” Mame is a sweet show about the importance of family and remaining true to your most essential self. With this first Twin Cities production in more than a decade, Artistry is thrilled to bring Mame back for another wild ride.

Benjamin McGovern, Artistic Director, will direct all productions in Artistry’s 2019-2020 Season. Before landing at Artistry in 2015, McGovern worked as a Director and Arts Administrator for many local companies, including the Guthrie Theater and Theatre de la Jeune Lune. He will be joined for the whole season by Artistry’s Resident Music Director, Anita Ruth. Joe Chvala will choreograph.

Mame will star Sarah Jane Agnew as Mame Dennis. Agnew is an incredibly versatile nationally-renowned actress and theater-maker who has performed with Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Guthrie Theater, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Yale Rep, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Berkeley Rep, The Moving Company, Jungle Theater, American Repertory Theater, and Shakespeare Theatre D.C. For the full cast, see below.

Artistry is an award-winning producing theater and visual arts non-profit and the anchor tenant at Bloomington Center for the Arts. Strongly committed to bringing vibrant and diverse arts experiences and learning to our community, we produce a wide variety of work that informs and illuminates the South Metro.
