Fall brings new Leadership Twin Cities class for Minneapolis Regional Chamber
MINNEAPOLIS (9/12/19) —The Minneapolis Regional Chamber is announcing the 2019-2020 Leadership Twin Cities class at the program’s annual kickoff retreat today. Participants were selected based on their commitment to improving the Minneapolis-St. Paul community, leadership within professional and volunteer roles, and a demonstrated interest in professional development.
“We are thrilled to introduce this dynamic group of individuals, all of whom share an interest in gaining a deeper understanding of the MSP region and developing knowledge and tools that enhance their community leadership skill set,” said Cheri Gengler, Director of Foundation at the Minneapolis Regional Chamber.
The Leadership Twin Cities program provides local professionals exposure to the economic, cultural, social and civil forces that shape our region. Participants receive an in-depth examination of the critical issues facing the region and are challenged to find potential solutions. Throughout the class, which runs from September to May, participants develop leadership skills by participating in team-building exercises, tours, talks with business and community leaders, and a cumulative project which they present on the final day. The class meets once each month and is focused on different topics such as economic development, education, government and the arts.
Approximately 50 candidates are selected for the Leadership Twin Cities program each year from the public, private and nonprofit sectors, and share a commitment to improving our community. More than 2,000 individuals have completed the program since its inception in 1976.
