Executive Women's Council: Authenticity in advocacy: How to get civically engaged without getting ‘too political’
As employers, economic drivers and policy experts in their communities, female business leaders have a powerful voice that can meaningfully shape local, state and even national policy. Far too often business leaders shy away from sharing that voice when the political climate is dominated by partisan, divisive noise. In 2022, Minnesota will elect all eight seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, our governor and four other constitutional offices, 134 members of the Minnesota House of Representatives, and 67 members of the Minnesota Senate. When the election dust settles, how can you maximize the opportunity to engage elected officials on public policy matters affecting your business and industry? In this session, public affairs and community engagement experts Elizabeth Emerson and Sara Swenson from Goff Public will share best practices for building positive relationships with policymakers and strategies for influencing policy. Join us to learn how you can build allies in government and protect your business interests, no matter which way the political winds blow.

Volunteerism & Social Responsibility: Build Employee Engagement and Meaningful Nonprofit Partnerships
Corporate volunteerism improves employee retention, productivity and loyalty. A recent study by PwC revealed, “Employees most committed to their organizations put in 57 percent more effort on the job—and are 87 percent less likely to resign—than employees who consider themselves disengaged.” In addition, corporate volunteers help build strong community relationships and pave the way for good corporate relations. In this session our panel will discuss the different types of volunteer programs that are working well, how best to engage employees in volunteer efforts, policies and software. We will also discuss best practices for a meaningful and authentic relationship with your nonprofit partners.
