May Membership Mingle: Nurturing Everyday Wellness
This month we will be meeting at Lee Carlson's Center for Mental Health and Well-Being in St. Louis Park for a breakfast networking event.
We will hear from Katie Rudek, a therapist and clinical supervisor, about self-compassion and radical acceptance, two related concepts that can be used together to promote greater well-being and resilience.
- Self-Compassion - the practice of treating oneself with kindness, care, and understanding, especially in times of difficulty or stress.
- Radical Acceptance - the practice of accepting reality as it is, without judgment, resistance, or avoidance. It involves acknowledging that some aspects of life are beyond one's control, and letting go of the idea that things should be different than they are. Radical Acceptance is not about giving up or resignation, but rather about finding a way to move forward in the face of difficult circumstances.
In essence, Self-Compassion and Radical Acceptance work together to help individuals become more accepting and kind towards themselves, and to develop greater resilience and inner strength in the face of life's challenges.
Join us for a time of networking and a brief discussion about these powerful topics.

Katie Rudek is a therapist, clinical supervisor, and COO at Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health and Wellbeing. She has been with LCC for over 8 years and uses Self-Compassion and Radical Acceptance regularly in her work with individuals, families, and groups.
